Commercial value you can see from the grandstand.

Cementing the commercial relationship

A good livery creates icons. It protects partner value across a season, makes renewals easier to argue for and gives commercial teams a stronger story to sell. That's the part of the work we care about most. And of course, Its the bit that fans remember!

The most valuable surfaces in motorsport

Liveries need to make a car look fast and distinctive. Commercial partnerships are the lifeblood of motorsport. Every logo on a car represents a commercial relationship, a negotiated value and a partner who needs to see their brand as a real part of something bigger than themselves. The livery is where that promise becomes visible.

We design liveries and sponsorship systems for teams and series across the sport. We've worked in Formula 1, Formula E, WEC and everything in between.  Oh, and we’ve even done driverless race cars for A2RL.

Our process - From Concept to Racetrack

A livery has to do a lot at once. It has many stakeholders, owners and investors, raceteam, sponsors - designing to keep all them happy.

It has to read instantly at speed, on a broadcast feed and in a thumbnail on a phone. It has to give each partner the presence they've paid for without the car becoming a patchwork.

Every series has its own unique regulations on logo placement, sizing, race numbers, driver identification and restricted categories.

The rules vary by market and change from season to season. On top of that, a livery has to be buildable: it has to work across bodywork, materials, curves and panel breaks, and still hold together when a new partner signs mid-season.

The best liveries do two jobs

Partners

Proud to be seen on it.

Fans

Spot it at speed.

01
We start with value. Before we place a single logo, we need to understand what each partnership has to deliver: visibility, association, storytelling, activation. The design then works to earn that value, not just fill space.
02
From there, we build a detailed and thorough specification. It covers placement zones, hierarchy, sizing, colour, compliance checks and the rules for flexing the design as partners change. The result is a system the team, its partners and its fabricators can all work from.
03
We are experts in the implementation and application of every element of the pack. The limits of vinyls and the application and dressing packs that the team need to assemble and add or get printed locally. Wrapping a car is an art and a science.

The best liveries deliver all three.

Without Pangaea involved, we wouldn’t have got them to that point. People feel listened to. Even if the outcome is ‘not in day one’, they’re much more comfortable with it.

Pangaea have facilitated conversations that would otherwise have been really challenging. They understand the claims needs and have been able to engage with other functions on our behalf and remove that pain.

This work has surfaced things traditional change often misses. It’s uncovered unknown unknowns and given us visibility we simply wouldn’t have had.
